WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?

The History of Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a form of hands-on manual therapy that originated in America in 1874 by a Doctor and Surgeon by the name of Dr Andrew Taylor Still. He wanted a form of treatment as an alternative to the more popular medicine options at the time. He wanted to be able to offer treatment which was more whole body centered and used the body's own inherent abilities to self-heal.  His research at the time showed that Osteopathic techniques had the ability to help the body do this, and as such Osteopathy was born.

Osteopathy Today

Osteopathy has evolved over time and today Osteopathy is a person-centered, hands-on modality of treatment that takes into account the whole body, which may be able to treat different types of pain, muscular spasms, joint restrictions, some neurological complaints, various types of dysfunctions and much more.

If you feel that we may be able to help you, please ring us and we can discuss if Osteopathy can be helpful for your condition.
